TA04 The Best Practices Mapping Project is a project to improve floodplain management within the basin. The Project was initiated with the document title Best Practices Mapping Project Proposal for funding to FEMA's Best Practices Mapping Project. Best Practice Mapping Project Phase 1, or TA04 is a project that was initiated by TCRFC and LCRA. This project is called TA04 because it is the 4th Task Order for the Best Practices Mapping Project. TA04 is a multi-phase effort. To date, the Initial Phase, includes the Map Master Planning for the Colorado River Basin and Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRM) of two counties which are Bastrop and Wharton.
The project includes the integration of GIS systems with data from engineering models, including the development of tools to archive and maintain the maps and databases in public access format. Coordination of information management systems will also be done with Texas Natural resources Information System (TNRIS).
The map production in the Map Master Plan will formulate the panel production schedule of future maps.
To satisfy FEMA requirements, the development of Technical Support Data Notebook (TSDN) will be done for the entire watershed. This document can be referenced for future FEMA Flood Insurance studies. The development of Floodway determinations will be done with the use of the HEC-RAS models.
The project will include the DFIRM maps associated spatial databases and coordinate with FEMA's MCC during the countywide digital conversion of flood hazard information from the existing FIRM panels.
