The purpose of the Map Master Plan is to have a written Plan for a phased production, maintenance and financial plan to convert the effective Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMS) and Flood Boundary Floodway Maps (FBFM's ) to a digital format. The project area includes the 11 counties and 50 incorporated areas of the lower Colorado River Basin.

The plan will include the Map needs Assessment based on the FEMA MNUSS database. The advantage of the producing a DFIRM is that the maps will be maintained, updated with more current base data and engineering analyses. In the maintenance plan a map repository would be created making updates to the maps faster and more consistent along with providing supporting technical input to make it easier to update or work on future studies.

In this area, the tiling system of Wharton and Bastrop counties are provided. Under the TA04 project, DFIRM maps will be produce for only these two counties. Under the Basinwide tiling document, the tentative tiling for the other counties in the Lower Colorado Water shed area are provided.
